Dialogue

Olson House Cushing Maine Christina interior acrylic painting giclee print

Two chairs in separate but connected spaces suggested a 40-year dialogue in my mind between myself (in the shaded nearer room) and Andrew Wyeth (in the sunlit room), but separated by an Atlantic distance. Doors lead to other spaces and memories with warm and cool light flooding rooms no longer lived in.

These are attic rooms in Olson’s house in Cushing, Maine, which features in Wyeth’s iconic painting Christina’s World. The print on the far wall is of Wyeth’s Wind From the Sea, painted in that room.
