Low Ebb

High Rock Portmarnock Dublin Ireland egg tempera painting giclee print

High Rock is a point between the coastal towns of Malahide and Portmarnock in County Dublin. The rocks bear fossils, and the vantage point overlooks two islands – Ireland’s Eye and Lambay Island. The nearby beach was the departure point for the first westbound solo transatlantic flight.

I painted this egg tempera after stopping here in the silence of a very early morning mist, tired and feeling at a ‘low ebb’ after an all night flight. The figure in blue, however, is my wife Sarah.
