Monhegan Island lies about 40 minutes by ferry south of Port Clyde in Maine. I came across this arrangement of lifebelts and lobster buoys on the shore near the house formerly owned by the painter Rockwell Kent, and now the island home of Jamie Wyeth. The arrangement looks like lovers embracing The previous generations of the Wyeths, NC Wyeth and his son Andrew Wyeth spent their summers at Port Clyde in their house Eight Bells, where Sarah and I visited Andrew Wyeth's famous model Helga Testorf in 2018. The painting was originally titled Rain Off Monhegan.
