My wife Sarah calling me for dinner. The portrait just glimpsed over the fireplace is also a portrait of Sarah sitting beside the same door, and it creates a 'capriccio', an illusion that the painted figure in the doorway is the real 'unpainted' Sarah, whereas it too is a painting, with its own frame suggested by the architrave.
